I recently wanted to get a racing game, and after some thinking I decided on The Crew 2. Overall, if you want to mess around with random vehicles in a huge map that looks decent for 40$ or more, this is the game for you, but other than that, don’t get your hopes up. Everyone I hit a cutscene, I’d just turn my volume off and walk away till it’s finished. Rubber banding is a huge illusion breaker, and the plot is absolutely dreadful. Any higher and you fell like a ballon drifting in the wind, absolutely no sense of speed. If you aren’t a foot away from the ground, they are woefully dull. And planes are by far the worst of the bunch. Boats are slow and handle piss-poorly, other than jet-sprint. Speaking of which, they are a complete let down. Motor cross is by far the worst of all the land based vehicle disciplines, they are slow and handle like a garbage bag, and that’s not even hitting on boats and planes. The rest I either haven’t tried, or misses the board completely. Some of it does, I quite enjoy street, hypercar, touring, rally cross and that’s about it. The crew 2 essentially throws crap on a wall and hopes it’ll stick. The physics is okay, but the substance is sparse and way to varied. Once you get to the racing, stuff starts to go downhill. The crew 2 hits that same mark, but not to any better degree, which is a disappointment considering games are supposed to improve the second time round. I’d you want to just road-trip around America, it was the game to do so. I played the hell out of the first crew, and it was a wonderful game to play, an okay story, decent physics, but most importantly, a fantastic map.
